First Steps
These packs have been produced by consultants at the Bury LEA Technology Curriculum Support Centre (TCSC) to provide activities and resources for using ICT to support teaching and learning in the Foundation Stage. An ICT scheme of work is not appropriate for the Foundation Stage as there are so few skills to be covered so a cross-curricular theme approach has been adopted. There are currently four themed packs available: Christmas, Role Play Café, Animals and Plants and This is Me and more packs based around different teaching themes will be developed shortly. The packs give teachers and classroom assistants ideas and resources to use ICT to support cross-curricular learning and may be used as a precursor to the Bury ICT Solution for Key Stages 1 and 2 (enquiries to the TCSC).
Word 2000 or above is required to access the Word Resources. My World software is required to gain best use of the Christmas, Role Play Café and Animals and Plants packs. The This is Me pack requires no extra software to run the majority of activities. Please contact the TCSC on 0161 253 6933 for advice if necessary.
