Children are normally admitted to school in the September following their 3rd (for Nursery) or 4th birthday (for Reception). Parents who are considering sending their child to the school are welcome to telephone or write to the headteacher to make an appointment to visit the school at any time. There are 60 children admitted into Nursery and 50 children admitted into Reception each year. Initially you can register your child with the school as soon as you like. These details will then be forward to the local authority who administer admissions to schools.
Our school has a well established induction programme for childrenright across the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and reception). This will be explained fully to parents when the names of the children to be admitted are known, but will include an introductory meeting and tour of the school early in the summer term before the children begin. During September the children will gradually build up the amount of time spent in school.
There are two reception classes which are generally equal in numbers and follow the same curriculum. The children frequently mix and work closely together.
Throughout the rest of the school the average class size is 30. We have two mixed age classes and every child can expect to be in one of these classes during their time at Radcliffe Primary. On occasions, staff may re-organise classes to take into account individual personalities, friendships and educational requirements.
