Governors - Committees
The responsibilities of the four main committees of the govering body are detailed below.
Curriculum
This committee considers school policy in relation to all areas of the curriculum and other related pupil issues; approves curriculum policy documents except where delegation is not permitted; consults and work in partnership with staff to develop and approve curriculum policy; monitors and evaluates policy implementation and ensures that it complies with the school improvement plan; considers policies and procedures related to the welfare and behaviour of pupils including special educational needs & inclusive education. Appropriate recommendations are made to the Governing Body.
Finance
This committee sets the school budget and formulates the schools finance policy; provides guidance and assistance to the Head Teacher and the Governing Body in matters relating to budgeting and finance within the agreed LMS framework, Council’s financial regulations and any central Government legislation. The committee is charged with a responsibility to ensure that a best value policy is adhered to in all matters.
Personnel
This committee reviews annually, with the Head Teacher, the staffing structure and salaries; establishes the policies relating to staff; is responsible for the appointment of all staff and in ensuring compliance with legislation and current L.A. guidelines and is responsible for any other personnel issues with the exception of those which will fall within the remit of the first Sub-Committee.
Premises
This committee makes recommendations to the Governing Body concerning premises care and maintenance including minor improvements, accessibility issues and capital schemes; advises the Head Teacher and Governing Body on general matters relating to health and safety, including Risk Assessment and monitors the conditions and upkeep of the school building and premises.
