Key Policies - Homework
All children are expected to extend their learning experiences at home. Working at home is of great value in completing and reinforcing work done in school and helps to establish the self-discipline of individual study.
In Key Stage 1 work at home is focused on reading practice and word building using a range of learning material to widen experience of different texts. In Key Stage 2 classes are set regular homework tasks alongside reading practice.
Children should not spend an excessive amount of time on their homework. If children are worrying or finding the tasks difficult it is expected that parents would contact school and request guidance from teaching staff on appropriate support for their children. The co-operation of and liaison with parents is very much appreciated by the school and is one way in which school and parents can maintain close constant contact with the work that children are involved in.
