Buried Treasure

Select 'Phase 2' then choose the grapheme your child needs to practise.

Phoneme Pop

Choose the selection of graphemes your child needs to practise. Ask your child to carefully listen to the phoneme then pop the bubbles with that grapheme written on.

Foam Graphemes

Choose graphemes and ask your child to arrange them to make a simple three lettered CVC word (CVC: consonant vowel consonant e.g. cat, pan, sit, pig)

Previous Learning

Before your child is able to begin Phase 2 of the Letters and Sounds program they need to be confident at segmenting and blending.

It is not necessary to recognise any letters just hear and say their sounds in words.

Blending

You can support your child at home by trying sound talk around the house.

For example while making dinner ask your child to pass the p-a-n, see if they can blend the sounds together to pass you the pan.

You could also try c-oa-t, b-e-d, t-oy-s, p-e-g, b-a-th, t-a-p

Segmenting

This is the reverse of blending, try saying a word, e.g. 'bed' and ask your child to sound talk it to you 'b-e-d'

This week the children have been playing the game 'metal mike' where they say the individual sounds in words like a robot.
