National Poetry Day 2010
National Poetry Day celebrates poetry across the UK. It is an ideal opportunity for children to enjoy different types of poems and to play with words in fun, creative and imaginative ways.
This year National Poetry Day was on Thursday 7th October and the children at St. Mary's wasted no time in celebrating!
The 2010 National Poetry Day theme was 'Home'.
Children were encouraged to think about what 'Home' means to them. The building they live in? The people who mean the most to them or the taste of home cooking? What is their idea of a perfect home?

All children were supported by their class teacher in writing a 'Home' poem to enter into our very own St. Mary's Poetry competition.
All of the entries were wonderful and choosing only one winning entry from each class was a difficult task!
