There is an opportunity for the children's reading

books to be changed daily in order to encourage

their enjoyment of reading. Moreover the more

books children read the more they will improve their

 reading skills!!!

As soon as they have finished their reading book

their reading record should be signed by whoever

listened to them read and brought back into school.

As your child becomes a more independent reader it

might be suitable for them to read the reading book

by themselves. If so you could ask some questions

to ensure they understood the text or they could tell

you what happened in the book. In these cases you

still need to sign the reading record please.

All books should be changed at least once a week.

The total time recommended for children of Y4 age to spend on homework in a week is 1.5hrs. Each task should only take about 20mins so please do not spend any longer on the task than this allotted time. However if your child is absorbed in the task and loving it, use your discretion to let them continue.

The Literacy and Numeracy tasks will be based on work the children are covering in class. Reading will be the Home/School reading book provided by school. Please sign the Reading Record when you have heard your child read. During Year 4 children often become very confident readers and it may be more beneficial for your child to read independently, in this situation you are signing the reading record to confirm your child has read the book.

Research homework is not expected to be pages and pages printed from the internet. If you do find a vital page you could print it out and your child could highlight the key words or phrases. Importantly please do not spend hours encouraging your child to write pages from the internet in their own words. The teachers will be more than happy to hear one or two key facts that your child can share with the rest of the class.

4B have PE on Monday and Thursday afternoons.4M have P.E on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. However,it is essential that P.E kits are in school all week as we occasionally have extra lessons such as football with Radcliffe Borough.

Our awards assembly is held on Monday mornings

at 9am. It would be great to see you there so

please come along and celebrate the children's

 achievements with us.
