Mission Statement of our school

As a Roman Catholic community, we follow Jesus Christ, sharing our faith, and growing in love.
We will nurture our children in an atmosphere of peace and reconciliation encouraging the values of love, care and respect within all our relationships.
We will provide a differentiated curriculum for all, fostering individual potential and celebrating achievements.
We will provide a safe, enjoyable environment in which we prepare our children for life.
We will strive to develop a sense of stewardship towards the world which God created, and an awareness of global need.

Our Mission Statement—children’s version
As the Roman Catholic family of St Mary's, we will follow Jesus' example, showing our love for each other.
We will try to make our school a place of peace and forgiveness. We will respect others and always treat others as we ourselves would want to be treated.
We will always do our best, at work and play, and celebrate everybody's achievements.
We will try hard to keep our school a safe and happy place to learn.
We will look after the world that God made for us and care for those who need our help.

- following Jesus' example in our own relationships in school.
teaching about Jesus, through the RE guidelines and seeking other opportunities in day to day school life. - teaching lives of saints.
- teaching the children the value of prayer, and how to pray both as individuals and as a community.
- school involvement in the Sacramental Programme.
- taking part in class and school masses/liturgies/assemblies.
teaching the Liturgical Year. - encouraging Sunday Mass attendance.
- seeking opportunities to use the Chapel throughout the school day and out of school hours.
- staff example.
- celebrating achievements in Assembly.
- fostering the notion of automatic transfer to a Catholic high school.
- links with St Monica's.

- providing a stimulating, orderly and tidy classroom and school environment.
- encouraging a safe, conducive atmosphere in and around school.
- having regard to appropriate safety arrangements which follow LEA guidelines when organising and taking part in school trips and educational visits.
- having a Health and Safety policy which follows LEA guidelines.
raising “safety for all” awareness through our discipline policy. - developing awareness of personal hygiene through sex education lessons, using circle time if appropriate.
- maintaining appropriate provision and resources for First Aid.
- teaching safety awareness and fostering and using links with outside agencies—Road Safety, Metrolink, PSHE, Police, Swimming Pool and other relevant agencies.
- teaching safe behaviour and safe use of equipment during appropriate lessons—PE, technology etc.

- supporting charities and relevant appeals—St Joseph's Penny, CAFOD.
- responding to world need and appropriate global appeals.
- raising awareness of conservation and pollution issues through appropriate curricular areas.
- discouraging waste in all its aspects.
- fostering a sense of responsibility towards, and an appreciation of, God's Creation.
- responding on a local level to needs and events e.g. Rainbow Family Trust.
- seeking opportunities to highlight issues of world need.
- encouraging an acceptance of, and a respect for, disability.
